The 37th National Games witnessed the exciting commencement of Kabaddi matches today in Goa, featuring captivating showdowns in both the Men's and Women's divisions. A total of four intense clashes electrified the arena, with four more contests still on the horizon for today.

Let's dive into the action-packed Women's matches.

GOA VS JHARKHAND

In the first showdown, Goa's Women's team engaged in an epic battle against their counterparts from Jharkhand. While both teams boasted extraordinary talents, it was the home team that dominated the proceedings.

Guided by formidable raiders like Pragati and Yashmati, Goa's offensive onslaught left Jharkhand's defense in disarray, resulting in a resounding victory. Although Jharkhand displayed flashes of brilliance in the first half, the match concluded with a substantial 24-point lead for Goa, the final score standing at 43-29.

HIMACHAL PRADESH VS UTTAR PRADESH

In the second Women's match, Kabaddi powerhouses Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh clashed in an eagerly anticipated encounter. Himachal Pradesh, led by the Asian Games gold medalist Pushpa Rana, squared off against Uttar Pradesh, captained by Priya Prajapati.

While expectations were high for a closely contested match, the tides turned decisively in the second half, with Himachal Pradesh emerging as the clear victors. Impactful performances from Pushpa Rana, Jyoti Thakur, and Sakshi Sharma secured a convincing 44-23 win for Himachal Pradesh.

HARYANA VS PUNJAB

Led by Priyanka Pilania and Pooja Kajla, the hub of Kabaddi, Haryana displayed a very good performance and turned out to be the team to shine in the cruch phase of the game. Haryana won the match by a 4-point margin with final scoreline being 31-27.

RAJASTHAN VS UTTAR PRADESH

This match between Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh could go down as the most exciting matches of the 37th National Games Women's Kabaddi. In the first half both of the teams went toe-to-toe, however, Rajasthan leapfrogged and registered a splendid 54-24 win.

MEN'S

In the Men's category, the first clash of the day featured Maharashtra and Punjab as they battled fiercely in the opening match. Maharashtra, currently topping the medal tally charts, carries strong aspirations of securing a Kabaddi gold medal.

MAHARASHTRA VS PUNJAB

The raiding prowess of Aslam Inamdar, Akash Shinde, and Aditya Shinde propelled Maharashtra to a commanding 23-11 lead at the end of the first half. In the second half, Punjab mounted a spirited comeback, accumulating consecutive points in an attempt to narrow the gap. However, Maharashtra displayed shrewd tactics, employing Do-or-Die raids to maintain their advantage. As the final whistle blew, the scoreline favored Maharashtra at 39-32.

UTTAR PRADESH VS GOA

In the subsequent showdown, defending champions Uttar Pradesh confronted the host team, Goa. Uttar Pradesh, led by Pro Kabaddi League luminaries like Rahul Chaudhari, Sahul Kumar, Abhishek Singh, Vikrant, and Mohit Baliyan, faced off against a notably inexperienced Goa side, which appeared out of contention from the outset.

Uttar Pradesh asserted their dominance in the first half, swiftly overwhelming Goa with a commanding 35-16 lead. Although the score doubled for both teams in the second half, Goa's valiant effort fell short of securing the victory. Uttar Pradesh emerged triumphant with a final score of 61-30, launching the 37th National Games in Goa with a resounding victory.

TAMIL NADU VS CHANDIGARH

The 3rd Men's category match saw a clash between a North Indian and South Indian team. Tamil Nadu took on a very solid Chandigarh side that raided its way out of Tamil Nadu to win the match commandingly by 51-27.
