Standing tall with good raiding abilities, Mayank Saini grew up under the guidance of his father Gurnam Singh, a factory supervisor, and mother Parveen Kumari, a homemaker. He discovered his love for kabaddi at age 15 while watching local tournaments and trained for nearly eight years under Coach Sanjeev Thakur at the Khelo India Centre in Rajpura, Haridwar.
