Who scored the most raid points in the inaugural season?

 

The inaugural season of Pro Kabaddi League was a huge success and it provided the platform for such a big tournament to take place in the country. Today, Pro Kabaddi League is the 2nd most-watched franchise league in India after Indian Premier League. This wouldn't be possible without the entertainment provided by the 1st edition of the tournament. The veterans in this list have played a major role in helping the tournament dominate the world stage.

 

The first edition, which took place in 2014, saw several legendary players, and many of them have called it a day now. Notably, the edition had only eight teams with the top four getting into the knock-outs.

 

Let's look at the top five raiders from the Inaugural edition:`

 

Anup Kumar

Anup Kumar was the real star of the Pro Kabaddi League's first edition. Representing U Mumaba, Captain Cool certainly made it memorable by scoring 169 raid points for his team. Undoubtedly, he was named as the most valuable player of the edition. The 39 -year-old went on to represent the franchise until 2019 before moving to Jaipur Pink Panthers for a season. The legendary Raider announced his retirement after completing 15 years in the sport. He turned coach after his retirement and went on to take over the coaching position at Puneri Paltan.

Rahul Chaudhari

Right from Season One, Rahul Chaudhari has been one of the most followed players in PKL history. Nicknamed 'Raid Machine', Rahul Chaudhari was a star performer for Telugu Titans in the inaugural edition. The defender-turned-Raider scored 151 points in the 1st season. However, Telugu Titans couldn't make it to the knockouts and were eliminated after finishing fifth. Though the team didn't have a good outing, Rahul Chaudhari's performance gained him a huge following. The "Show Man" went on to break several records in the future. Notably, He was the first person to win 800 points in PKL history.

 

Maninder Singh

Maninder Singh began his Pro Kabaddi League career with Jaipur Pink Panthers. The current Bengal Warriors captain had an unforgettable debut season where he ended up as one of the best raiders in the season. The team went on to win the inaugural edition and it wouldn't be possible without his brilliance. He was statistically rated as the third-best raider of the edition with 130 raid points.

 

Ajay Thakur

 

Ajay Thakur put on a brilliant display for Bengaluru Bulls in the first season. He ended with 122 raid points in 15 matches. Thakur is one of the players who had played for more than three franchises in PKL history. The first season has been his best so far.

Kashiling Adake

 

Kashiling Adake began his Pro Kabaddi League career with Dabang Delhi. The raider featured 14 matches and had 113 raid points in the first season. He ended up as the 5th best raider of the edition.

 

The 30-year-old played for Dabang Delhi in the first four seasons. In the fifth, he moved to U Mumba and then to Bengaluru Bulls. Adake has created several records, and he is the first player to score 15 raid points in the 1st half of a PKL match.
