“I FIND THE NEW RULE CHANGES IN THE PRO KABADDDI LEAGUE INTERESTING”: PAWAN SEHRAWAT

Speaking exclusively during a Media Day organized by JioStar, Tamil Thalaivas Captain Pawan Sehrawat spoke on the recent rule changes (Golden Raid and Tie-breaker):
“The tie-breaker rule is really interesting and good for the sport because it gives you a chance to sharpen your skills and play on the frontline. With this new rule, the team that has five riders on the mat, is performing very well. It will be very interesting to see who can perform from the team. These rule changes encourage a do-or-die approach rather than settling for a draw. It’s a positive development for PKL. I find these rules very interesting, and the public is able to understand them easily.”
On team combination and strategy:
“There is no one on paper who is the main raider in the team. But as a senior player and captain, I have to see which player can perform well in which position. If I feel Arjun Deshwal can score well raiding against a particular defense, it is my duty to send him in. Everyone has different roles, and Arjun is playing his role well. There is no single main rider this season; it’s about executing based on the team’s needs.”
On his preparation for the season:
“Changes happen automatically every season. There’s no need for drastic changes, you just polish your skills and stand up to the duty given to you. Now, I am giving 100% to the duty assigned to me. Changes keep happening because the Pawan you saw in Season 3 is not the same Pawan playing in Season 12. The new players you practice with bring new skills, and you learn a lot from them. Skills develop automatically; you just have to refine them. And I am doing that.”
On plans for other teams:
“All other teams are the same for me, and all matches are challenging. There’s no single team that’s particularly strong; all teams are performing well. We will plan and play accordingly. We will study their weaknesses and work on ours. We have a strong defense and a strong offense. We will use our defense or attack as per the plan. We discuss it in team meetings and then implement it.”
