Indoor Stadium at Air Force Station Bagdogra Named After Arjuna Awardee Ram Meher Singh
In a significant honour to one of India’s most celebrated Kabaddi icons, the newly built indoor stadium at Air Force Station Bagdogra has been dedicated and named after Arjuna Awardee and Bhim Awardee, Master Warrant Officer (Retd.) Ram Meher Singh. The inauguration ceremony, attended by senior Air Force officials, highlighted his outstanding contribution to Indian Kabaddi and the Indian Air Force.

Ram Meher Singh’s distinguished sporting journey includes captaining India to Asian Games Gold in 1998 and 2002, winning Asian Kabaddi Championship Gold in 2001, securing two SAF Games Gold medals, and later serving as Head Coach of the Indian Team at the 2018 Asian Games. In professional Kabaddi, he made history as the three-time Pro Kabaddi League champion coach of Patna Pirates.
Currently serving as Deputy Director (Sports), Haryana, he continues to shape and inspire India’s sporting landscape. The newly named “Ram Meher Singh Indoor Stadium” stands as a tribute to his excellence, leadership, and lifelong commitment to the sport—an enduring inspiration for generations to come.
