PKL-12: Bengal ends Telugu Titans’ five-match winning streak with tiebreaker victory

Bengal Warriors stopped Telugu Titans’ five-match winning streak with a 7-5 tiebreaker win in the 85th match of the 12th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) played at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium on Wednesday. After 40 minutes of play, the match was tied 45-45, sending it into a tiebreaker.
This is Bengal’s fifth win in 14 matches. The team remains in 11th place with 12 points, while Titans suffered their sixth defeat in as many matches, staying in third place on the points table.
The match started at a fast pace, with both teams tied 5-5 within the first four minutes. Devank contributed for Bengal, while Bharat and captain Vijay performed for Titans. Avi caught Himanshu, giving Titans the lead. Then Bharat caught Ankit, making the score 7-5. After a bonus point by Devank, Shivansh caught Bharat, who had already taken a bonus.
Devank then executed a super raid, not only giving Bengal a 10-8 lead but also securing a super tackle for Titans. Prateek caught Vijay, pushing Titans toward an all-out, and Bengal converted it to take a 15-9 lead. After the all-in, Devank’s toe touch on Bharat completed his 14th consecutive Super 10 of the season.

Meanwhile, Chetan was caught by Ashish, putting Titans in a super tackle situation. Devank limited them to a single point, but Shubham temporarily avoided an all-out for Titans. However, catching Bharat resulted in Bengal taking an all-out, extending their lead to 26-15 at the end of the first half.

After halftime, Titans’ defense caught Devank for the first time. Titans then scored three consecutive points, pushing Bengal toward an all-out and eventually taking an all-out to ensure a 32-26 comeback. After the all-in, Titans caught Devank again, but Bharat’s revival kept him in the game.

However, Himanshu scored two points, reducing the gap to 42-43. On the next raid, he earned a bonus but was caught by Bharat. Titans caught Devank again, increasing their lead to 2 points, but Himanshu caught Shubham, bringing the score to 44-45. In the final raid, Bengal caught Vijay to tie the match and take it to a tiebreaker.
