PKL-12: Sandeep Kumar’s fourth consecutive Super-10, U Mumba registers sixth win, thrashes Gujarat Giants 40-25

Riding on Bihar’s star raider Sandeep Kumar’s fourth consecutive Super-10, U Mumba handed Gujarat Giants a crushing 40-25 defeat in the 60th match of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12 at the SDAT Multipurpose Indoor Stadium on Thursday.

With this victory, U Mumba now has six wins from 11 matches and has climbed to fourth place with 12 points. On the other hand, Gujarat Giants suffered their eighth defeat in 10 matches and have slipped to the bottom, standing at 12th place.

For U Mumba, Sandeep scored the highest 15 points, registering his fourth consecutive Super-10 this season. In defense, captain Sunil claimed seven points, while Rinku registered a High Five with five points. For Gujarat, only Ankit Dahiya (5 points) and Lucky Sharma (7 points) managed to put up some fight.

Thanks to Sandeep and Sunil, U Mumba had a strong start and led 6-3 within the first five minutes. In the opening 10 minutes itself, Sandeep picked up five points to take his team ahead 10-6. Soon after, U Mumba inflicted the first all-out on Gujarat, extending their lead to 16-7. By the 16th minute, they had built a massive 20-9 advantage.

By the end of the first half, U Mumba’s defense had already collected 10 tackle points compared to Gujarat’s mere three. As a result, U Mumba went into halftime leading 23-11.

Early in the second half, Sandeep from Samastipur, Bihar, completed his fourth consecutive Super-10 of the season. In the 25th minute, he inflicted another all-out on Gujarat, stretching U Mumba’s lead to 29-13. Despite the presence of Mohammadreza Shadloui, Gujarat could manage just two tackle points until the 30th minute, while U Mumba surged ahead 33-16. Meanwhile, Sunil also completed his third consecutive High Five.

In the final minutes, U Mumba doubled their lead, taking the score to 38-19, and eventually sealed a comprehensive 40-25 victory, maintaining their dominance till the last whistle.
