U Mumba Secure Top-8 Spot After Beating Haryana Steelers 7–5 in Tiebreaker Thriller

U Mumba sealed their place in the top eight after defeating Haryana Steelers 7–5 in a dramatic tiebreaker during the 98th match of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12 at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium on Sunday. The match had ended 37–37 in regulation time, forcing a tiebreaker to decide the winner.

This was U Mumba’s ninth win in 16 matches, while Haryana suffered their eighth defeat in as many games. Despite Haryana captain Jaideep’s outstanding defensive performance with 9 points, setting a new record in defense, his effort ultimately went in vain. With this victory, U Mumba climbed to fifth place in the points table.

Haryana started strongly, taking a 5–1 lead within the first two minutes, and soon forced a super tackle situation for Mumba. Mumba failed to capitalize, and Haryana inflicted an all-out, extending their lead to 10–3. After the all-out, Mumba’s defense managed a point, and Sandeep’s super raid brought the score to 7–10, putting Haryana under super tackle pressure. However, Haryana skillfully escaped the situation.

Mumba tackled Vinay, while Haryana responded by catching Sandeep. After 10 minutes, Haryana led 13–8. Following the break, Jaideep made a rare mistake on Sandeep’s raid, putting Haryana under a super tackle at 11–14. Sandeep capitalized by eliminating Hardeep, reducing Haryana to just two players, but Sahil’s super tackle on Sandeep earned Haryana two crucial points, making it 18–12.

After being tackled three times consecutively, Ajit produced a sensational three-point raid, inflicting an all-out on Haryana. Mumba leveled the score 20–20 by halftime.

After the break, Mumba earned two quick points, once again putting Haryana under super tackle pressure, but Haryana executed another super tackle to level the scores. Jaideep completed his High-5, followed by yet another super tackle to give Haryana a 24–23 lead.

Ajit then got Jaideep out, but Rahul and Sahil combined for another super tackle, maintaining Haryana’s 28–25 lead by the 30-minute mark. After the timeout, Sandeep’s second super raid turned the tide, putting Mumba ahead 31–30, and soon after, they inflicted another all-out to lead 34–31. Jafar’s tackle on Shivam extended the lead to 4 points.

However, Vinay, Jaideep, and Mayank reduced the gap to just one point, and Sahil’s tackle on Anil brought the scores level once again. Mumba then went into a super tackle situation. Shivam came in to raid, but Sunil tackled him, giving Mumba a 2-point lead.

Mayank then tackled Parvesh, narrowing the margin to one again. Finally, Sahil’s tackle on Sandeep tied the match at the end of regulation time, sending it into a tiebreaker, where U Mumba held their nerve to win 7–5 and clinch the game.
