Early Life & Family
Ajith Kumar was born on 15 July 1998 in Samipillaipudur village, Karur district, Tamil Nadu. His father, Muruganandam, is a farmer, and his mother, Renuka, is a homemaker. He has an elder sister, Satya, who does not play kabaddi. As a child, Ajith played cricket with his brother and friends. At age 13, his brother introduced him to kabaddi, and he joined a local school program to hone his skills.
Despite limited resources, Ajith’s dedication shone through. His school coach helped him secure admission to a college in Tamil Nadu where he could continue his kabaddi training and participate in tournaments.
Domestic Career
Ajith Kumar represented Tamil Nadu at the 67th and 68th Senior National Kabaddi Championships. He also competed in the Khelo India Youth Games in Pune in 2019, where he first caught the attention of PKL scouts. His strong performances in these tournaments led to his selection for the Pro Kabaddi League’s New Young Player camp before Season 7.
PKL Journey
Ajith Kumar’s Pro Kabaddi League journey began in Season 7 (2019) when he was bought by Tamil Thalaivas for ₹6 lakhs. He played 19 matches, scoring 121 raid points. In Season 8 (2021), U Mumba acquired him for ₹25 lakhs. He again played 20 matches, tallying 159 raid points and earning 6 Super 10s.
Season 9 (2022) saw him join Jaipur Pink Panthers, contributing to their title win. He played a total of 21 matches and earned 100 raid points.
