Born in Sangli(Maharashtra), Kashiling comes from a family of farmers and kushti lovers. Kashi's father also wanted him to become a wrestler, but Kashi was more passionate about Kabaddi during his childhood. After seeing him play, Kashi's father thought that Kabaddi would be an ideal sport for Kashi to take up. Kashi started playing Kabaddi from his early school days and went on to represent his district at the age of 15 years. He was also given a scholarship by a local club for further training and improving his game.
However, Kashi's kabaddi hit a hurdle when his father passed away. At 19 years of age, Kashi was the only bread earner of the family and started working in a sugar factory for Rs. 25/hour. After four years of struggle, he managed to go to Mumbai with the help of his uncle and train there. He was picked by the Mahindra Team and eventually sent to Gujarat for professional training by the Sports Authority of India.
