Ghar Se Panga: Surender Nada tells us how he is spending his lockdown

Kabaddi action has seen a complete stop as India stands up and fights against the Corona Virus, along with the world. We, at Kabaddi Adda therefore, are bringing you exclusive interviews with your favorite Kabaddi players to tell you how they are spending their time in the COVID-19 lockdown.

We spoke with the defender, Surender Nada, one of the best defenders of the Indian Men's Kabaddi team, who was last a part of the Patna Pirates in the Pro Kabaddi League. He has been a part of Pro Kabaddi since the first season and has been a consistent performer, winning the title with U Mumba in Season 2. In PKL Season 5, Nada was the top defender of the tournament with 80 points while representing the Haryana Steelers.

-How do you spend your day with the entire country under lock-down?

Now that we cannot go out to train, I go to my farm for my running and my daily warm-up since there are no people nearby. I run within the farm and practice Kabaddi there itself. Then I come home and I stay at home only since it is a lock-down announced by our government. I have completely stopped meeting friends and I tend to stay home and spend time with my family.

-What is the practice that you tend to do while working out alone?

Since I am a defender, I have to ensure that my body strength is much more than the player who will be coming in for the raid. So I mostly do strength training. We have sand on our farm and I run in it, as it is tough to run in the sand and requires more power. This will ensure my lower body remains strong.

-How has it been to spend time with your family?

I feel delighted that I am able to spend time with my family right now. With many tournaments going on over the year, I am mostly traveling with the team. Now that everything is stopped, I am able to spend time with my family and it feels wonderful.

-How do you try to help in daily household chores?

Every morning, I wake up and milk the cows that we have. I have been doing it for years whenever I am home and I still help in that. I also go to the farm once in a couple of days to check out how the crop is coming up. It is almost time that we have to cut the crops, since they have fully grown now.

-How are you maintaining your diet?

It is honestly very hard to maintain a strict diet when you are home and not even practicing Kabaddi. I try to eat dry fruits and drink milk for the diet.

-You are working with the CISF. Are you required to go on duty during this time?

Since we are from sports, we have been given time off until the lockdown period is over. Our seniors have asked us to stay at home and not go outside so until this time passes, work is also on hold.

-What would you like to say to your fans about the situation around India and the whole world?

I would request my fans to stay inside their homes, keep themselves clean and not move outside. We have to fight the Corona virus together and make sure that we will eradicate it as soon as possible. We should all do our best and listen to the instructions given by our government and our authorities.
