The Young Pune side showed their mighty defensive skills in the first 10 minutes where Paltan's Girish Ernak did a tackle on Maghsoudlou and kept the Pirates down by 14-0. It was the first time that the pirates were in that score even after 10 minutes of the first half, this was the best start by any team against the Pirates. Finally, after a bitter start, Pardeep opened his account by sending Sanket Sawant back to take the score to 3-14, he also forced an error of Pawan Kadian who attempted a half-hearted ankle hold on him to further take the score to 6-14. Patna began its comeback taking out the Paltans one by one. In the 15th minute of the first half, the match had turned around as the Patna Pirates Inflicted an "All-Out" on Puneri Paltan and the score read 9-16, Patna was just trailing by a difference of 7 points.

The most shocking aspect of the match was when Pardeep Narwal got TIMED-OUT that too in a do-or-die raid, something that we don't see that often. Pawan Kadian did a vicious running kick on Hadi to send him back to the bench and first half came to an end with Pune leading with 10 points i.e (20-10), as the half completely belonged to Puneri Paltan, They were consistent at both Raiding and Defending to keep the scoreboard ticking.

The Second half saw the Patna somewhat getting into the game as Pardeep Narwal did a Super-Raid along with a bonus point, score now stood at 13-21 as Pune still had kept its lead. In the absence of Nitin Tomar, Pune's Captain Surjeet still kept his calm and showed superb Defensive skills by doing a double thigh hold on the "Dubki Master" -Pardeep. As it was also the first time when Pardeep was kept off the court most of the time, however, a man of the night was Amit Kumar who had 8 points and was relentlessly putting tackles.

The highlight of the match was the young substitute for Pune Pankaj Mohite who in a do-or-die raid took 3 men out and inflicted the All-Out on Patna Pirates to take a further lead of score 32-16. From thereon the match was totally dominated by the Puneri Paltans, who put up an All-round Performance to achieve their Maiden victory in this season.
