How Pune overcame the odds and found their first win against Gujarat FortuneGiants

Puneri Paltan and Gujarat Fortunegiants came into Match 28 on Monday with conflicting campaigns in season 7 so far. Puneri Paltan was keen to ride on their winning momentum and add another victory to their name against a side they have never managed to beat before. Gujarat Fortunegiants, meanwhile, was hoping to leave their result against U Mumba behind and get back to winning ways at the Patliputra stadium in Patna.

Puneri Paltan started the first half with resolute stance in defence, whereas Gujarat's raiders lacked intent as was the case in their encounter with U Mumba the previous night. Error built first 10 minutes from both the teams kept them on level terms. All Out inflicted on Pune by Rohit Gulia ensured Gujarat lead by 5 points with 5 minutes to go in the first half.

Gujarat Heads ahead in the first half

Pawan Kumar Kadiyan turned the tides in favour of Puneri Paltan, pushing Gujarat on the verge of an All Out and bringing them back into the match. Scoreline was 17-14 inclined towards the Fortune Giants who with 7 failed tackles looked vulnerable in their defensive unit. Raiders dominated the first half with 19 raid points which continued throughout the match.

Sachin was seen back in form as match progressed fetching 9 raid points from 14 raid attempts.

High Five by veteran Girish Ernak gave Pune a comfortable lead of 4 points over the Fortune Giants in dying minutes of the second half. 

Pune secured their first win over Gujarat in Vivo PKL history by 33-31 continuing their winning streak in the tournament.

Head to head match-up favouring the Gujarat Fortune Giants 6-0 Pune consider themselves underdogs going into the match. Captain of Pune Surjeet Singh will have to be at his best against Sachin Tanvar, who was not in his best of forms against U Mumba.
