Rohit Baliyan snatched the victory from Pirates with a super raid

A last-minute super raid by Rohit Baliyan guaranteed U Mumba a 34-30 win against Patna Pirates in the match number 43 of the Pro Kabaddi 2019 at the EKA Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad. After a poor first half, Patna Pirates tried to stage a comeback in the second half, going toe to toe with U Mumba in the last couple of minutes of the game but could not manage to go past the season 2 champions. It was Patna's eighth loss against the Mumbai based team from their 13th encounter.

The first half started with Pardeep Narwal getting the first points for the Pirates. He also registered 700 successful raids in the history of PKL. However, Patna lost their way 10 minutes into the match as Arjun Deshwal, Athul MS, Rohit Baliyan and Sandeep Narwal got back to back successful raids to their name. At the end of the first half, U Mumba were leading with massive 13 points with a score of 22-9.

As the second half started, Patna picked up four quick points, thanks to a super tackle by Ravinder on Arjun Deshwal and a two-point raid by Mohammad Esmaeil Maghsoudlou. Pardeep managed to get a few successful raids to get his team back on track. He picked up nine points in the game. The Pirates also inflicted an all-out on the Mumbai team to reduce the deficit by just five points.

Both the teams went neck to neck in the final few minutes of the game. In the last minute of the match, the score was 31-29 in favor of U Mumba. Pardeep Narwal got a successful raid to his name to bring the scores to 31-30, bringing the game to the last raid of the match by U Mumba. Baliyan, in his final raid of the match, got Hadi Oshtorak, Jang Kun Lee and Neeraj Kumar out to win the game for his team. With this win, U Mumba reached the fourth position in the Pro Kabaddi Points Table. They will next face Haryana Steelers on Monday in Chennai.

Having suffered a close loss against Bengal Warriors, U Mumba will be looking to get back to winning ways against Patna Pirates in the match number 43 of the Pro Kababddi 2019. Patna on the other hand will be pumped up after a huge 41-20 win against UP Yoddha in their final home match in Patna. Speaking about the history of the two teams, U Mumba have a upper hand over the Pirates, having won 7 of their 12 encounters. Patna have won four while one match ended in a draw.
