Gujarat Giants and Puneri Paltan possibly have the strongest defensive units at the end of the day 1.

  • Gujarat have built 3/4th of the dangerous Railways defense. Having retained Parvesh Bhainswal & Sunil Kumar, they also managed to outbid the Paltans and buy the dangerous Ravinder Pahal.
  • In a rebound buy after missing Pahal, Puneri Paltans managed to buy both the Himachal corner duo of Baldev Singh and Vishal Bharadwaj. If this combination fires they can also lay claim to one of the most dangerous defensive units.
  • UP Yoddha had gone into the auction with a set defense, and did not yet add any big players there, but it is a defense that was well above average in S7 and should only improve from there.
  • Bulls who also retained most of their defense managed to buy back Mahender Singh at just 50L thus managing to have a defense already as good as PKL7.
  • For Bengal their only buy of the day was Abozar and expecting him to fill the gap that Baldev leaves in their defense is a tough task. Bengal at least have their Left corner sorted in Rinku Narwal.
  • Dabang Delhi also filled their Ravinder Pahal sized hole in the auction with a bidding war against themselves for Sandeep Narwal. Delhi still needs to find a left-corner and captain and are probably waiting for Joginder Narwal.
  • So also did Tamil start their rebuilding by buying the wall of the Puneri defense - Surjeet Singh to man their Right Covers.
  • Haryana Steelers haven't managed to buy a single player into their defensive units yet and look in risk of failing to build a good defense a second time around.
  • UMumba weren't able to add any defenders to their retained units. In fact UMumba did not manage to buy a single player in the entire domestic player auctions that happened today.
  • Patna also wasn't able to add to Neeraj Kumar but expect them to go all out for Sandeep Kandola and Sombir in Category C.
  • Jaipur have built back their entire defense from last season. But given how the performance of their defense was really linked to the performance of Sandeep Dhull, we can't say if it will work. But with a new coach and with star player DNH bought back at a steal Jaipur maybe the team to watch out for.

Lets also do a review of the raiding units of all the teams at the end of Day 2 of the Auctions

pardeep narwal 1.65 cr auction

Siddharth Desai PKL auction

1. Of course the best two raiding units have to be the Bulls and the Yoddhas. Bulls Added Chandran Ranjit to support Pawan and the very improved Banty. The Yoddhas got back Srikanth Jadhav and managed to buy out a certain Pardeep Narwal, and along with young Surender Gill they look like a well balanced raiding unit.

2. Haryana Steelers added the all round raiding ability of Rohit Gulia to their already strong raiding duo or Vikash Khandola and Vinay.

3. Patna have built a full raiding unit, as would be expected if you let go of someone in the caliber of Pardeep Narwal with Sachin, Prashant Rai leading the raiding and supported by Monu, Jang Kun Lee.

4. Gujarat still haven't added a single raider to their squad, so what NYP surprises are they bound to throw up.

5. Dabang Delhi, although they have Naveen & Vijay haven't added any backup raiders to the squad.

6. So also Bengal warriors, and they have lost Prapanjan to the Tamil Thalaivas.

7. Telugu Titans managed to  FBM back the services of their lead raider in Baahubali Siddhart Desai.

8. Thalaivas have gone again for 2 big raider strategy, but with young raiders this time. Local boy Prapanjan and all rounder from Services Manjeet.

9. Puneri Paltan, for all their bidding were only able to add a Rahul Choudhary to their squad and will be looking to beef up their raiding unit come tomorrow.
