Federation Cup Junior postponed due to CORONA Virus

The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of Indian (AKFI) has announced that the Federation Cup Junior 2020 has been postponed indefinitely due to the outbreak of the CORONA Virus in the country. The tournament was scheduled to take place from the 19th to the 23rd of March 2020. Both boys' and girls' tournament was planned to be taken place at the same time in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra.

AKFI has not given the new dates of the tournament stating that they will be putting up further information later as and when the situation is in control. There has also been no announcement on the schedule of the Federation Cup Senior yet. The tournament was reportedly to take place in the month of March in Delhi.

The COVID-19 Virus, also known as Corona Virus has been announced as a 'pandemic' by the World Health Organization (WHO). Having started from China, the virus has now spread across the world with more than 127,000 cases reported all over the world. Many sports personalities have also been affected by the virus. 

In India, a total of 75 people have been reported to have been infected by the virus, with one death in the state of Karnataka. While India has suspended all the visas with a few exceptions till April 15th, the Government of India has urged the people to avoid mass gatherings. Schools have also been shut in many parts of the country. To prevent the spreading of the virus, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the ongoing ODI tour between India and South Africa will be held behind closed doors, with no spectators.

With the virus spread in most of parts of the country, the AKFI will take all the measures to abide by the instructions and given out by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW).
