Island nation SriLanka announces SAG 2019 Kabaddi Squads

Kabaddi is an important and popularly played sport in the island nation of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Kabaddi Federation (SLKF) announced its squad for the upcoming South Asian Games 2019 in Kathmandu. Kabaddi will happen between 4th-9th December 2019.

Men's team does not have much to show in terms of medals in the Asian Games. Prokabaddi player from Jaipur Pink Panthers Milinda Chaturanga was named the vice-captain with Ranidu Chamara as captain. 

However, women's kabaddi team won the bronze medal in the Asian Kabaddi Championships 2017 and at the South Asian Games 2010 and 2016.  Madhushani Chathurika, a net ball player earlier in her career, led the Kabaddi team to these two medals with some brilliant raiding. It is Indeewari Sarasika will lead the women's squad in SAG 2019.

Sri Lankan being an island nations have done admirably in the Asian Beach Games where they were the semi-finalists in 2012, 2014, and 2016 Beach Kabaddi.
