Red Army team — Team Red Army at 47th Inter Services Kabaddi Championship

The 47th Inter Services Kabaddi Championship is underway in Delhi Air force station. The tournament began on 3rd April and is set to run till 6th April 2021 which will see the final being played. This tournament features 4 teams- Red Army, Green Army, Air Force and Indian Navy who will fight it to become champions. The 4 teams are divided to 2 pools who will play each other once. This tournament is the selection tournament where the Services team will be selected to play at the 68th Senior National Kabaddi Championship in Ayodhya. Like always the Inter Services tournament features big stars of Indian Kabaddi in the likes of Naveen Kumar, Nitin Tomar, Surjeet Singh, Mahender Singh, Manjeet, Monu Goyat, Rohit Kumar among others.

The tournament went ahead on 3rd April with the league matches taking place. The first match of the day saw Red Army went up against their counter parts Green Army where Red Army won the game with a score difference of 9 points. In the 2nd and last league match of the tournament saw the other teams India Navy and Indian Air Force go head to head which saw the Indian Air Force take control of game from the word go and beat Indian Navy with a lead of 13 points. After the completion of two league matches it came down to Red Army and Indian Navy playing the Semi-FInal 1, Green Army and Indian Air Force playing the Semi-Final 2 of the Inter Services Kabaddi Championship.

1st Semi Final featuring Red Army and Indian Navy turned out to be an tight encounter where it was tough to tell which team will make it to the final. Red Army won the close game with the score difference of 3 points to become the first team to qualify to the finals of Inter Services Kabaddi Championship. 2nd Semi Final had Indian Air Force up against Green Army which turned out be an one sided affair where Air Force continued their good run by winning the game with a lead of 22 points.

The much awaited Final of the Inter Services Kabaddi Championship is set to take place on 6th April in the evening session where Naveen Kumar's Indian Air Force who are defending champions from last year will go up against Arjun Deshwal's Red Army which is expected to be an mouth watering encounter. The 3rd place match up will feature Green Army and Indian Navy taking on each other in the morning session of the final day (6/4/21). It will be interesting to see if Air Force can successfully defend their title against a strong Red Army.
