Mohit Chhillar was born in Nizampur, Delhi on 13th July 1993. He was introduced to Kabadi at a very young age as his father and uncle were both Kabaddi players. Mohit started training after encouragement from his uncle but never received a professional training. He had to learn Kabaddi by observing his seniors.

The youngster started participating in the local tournaments and soon his talents as a defender were recognized early and the youngster made a name for himself in the junior nationals. He had missed out on a place in the Delhi state team but went on to play for Rajasthan. Mohit also secured a job in the North-Western Railways, thus starting to play for their team in the national circuit.

Mohit Chhillar Pro Kabaddi Career

During the PKL Season 1 auctions, Mohit was picked up by U Mumba. Along with Surender Nada, Mohit formed a strong defense for the Mumbai based team as the duo finished as the top two defenders of the team. Under Anup Kumar, Mohit began to learn a lot during his time at the club and was awarded retention for the next season as well.

As the runner-ups started their campaign for the second season of PKL, Mohit emerged as one of the strongest defenders of the season as he managed to stop top raiders from picking up points. He ended the league as third best defender and helped U Mumba to grab their maiden PKL title. Mohit ended up as the team's top defender with 42 points from 14 matches.

Mohit's magnificent run at U Mumba continued for the third consecutive season as the then 23-year old as he once again finished as the top defender for the team. While the team fell short to win the title after losing a last minute thrilling encounter 28-31, Mohit was the highest scoring defender for the final with six points.

Mohit moved to Bengaluru Bulls for Pro Kabaddi Season 4 for a record Rs. 53 lakh and again emerged as the top defender for them. He finished as the third-best defender of the tournament with 47 tackle points from 14 matches. The following season saw Haryana Steelers grabbing the defender for Rs 46.50 lakh. He was yet again reunited with his U Mumba and Bengaluru Bulls partner Surender Nada. However, this season did not bring the best out of Mohit as he scored just 39 tackle points from 20 games.

His performance continued on the downwards graph with Jaipur Pink Panthers in PKL Season 6 as the managed only 31 tackle points from 14 matches. After having bought by Tamil Thalaivas for PKL 2019 for Rs. 45 lakh, it seemed like a strong defense as he would partner with Manjeet Chhillar. However, the right corner only managed 37 points from 18 matches.

Mohit Chhillar International Career

Mohit's performance for U Mumba in the first couple of seasons of Pro Kabaddi grabbed the attention of the Indian Kabaddi team selectors and the youngster was selected to be a part of the national team for the 2016 South Asian Games. With the team winning a gold medal at the tournament, Mohit went on to play the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup, Ahmedabad. He was one of the major contributors to the title win for the Indian team.

The defender's run with the Indian men's national team went on to continue at the 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championships in Iran and the 2018 Kabaddi Masters in Dubai. The Indian contingent had won the title at both the tournaments. Mohit was also a part of the bronze medal-winning Indian team at the 2018 Asian Games.
