Rakesh Sungroya also known as "Kaali" was born in Geong village in Kaithal district of Haryana. He started playing Kabaddi in his village with his friends in school and enjoy the sport as fun activity, soon he realised the passion he had developed for the sport and started experimenting his skills in local tournaments.
Rakesh's talent didn't go unnoticed as he got selected in SAI youth program for Kabaddi. He has also played in many states and National tournaments before he got selected in PKL 8 as an NYP by Gujarat Giants.
Rakesh caught many eyes while playing for NK Kabaddi Academy in K7 Kabaddi Tournament, where in just 9 matches he scored 93 points and took his team into the Super 6 stage of the tournament. Soon after his performance at K7 Kabaddi, Rakesh was signed by Gujarat Giants outside the auction.
Rakesh was given an opportunity to play as a lead raider by his team at PKL and he lead his team with smile on his face, without any fear.
Rakesh enjoys the confidence coach Manpreet Singh and shown on him and loves the way he have been coaching the team.
