It was a to-and-fro affair in the match, wherein Rahul Chaudhari reached 950 points in Pro Kabaddi League and with the score at 11-10 in favor of Bengaluru Bulls, Rahul went in for the Raid in speedy pursuit but got was tackled by Amit Sheoran. Pawan Sehrawat struck again, ousting Manjeet Chhillar and Ajeet in a 2-point raid but Thalaivas responded well by scoring 3 points without reply, ending the First Half with a point's deficit at 13-14.
Sumit Singh put in an early touchpoint in the start of the Second Half, resulting in a defender's revival for Bengaluru Bulls. Subsequently, Ajay Thakur was pinned down by a trio of Bulls' players in Thalaivas' Do or Die Raid. This resulted in Pawan Sehrawat's revival, following which the leading Raider of PKL 7 inflicted more damage on the visitors with 4 back to back successful raids, scoring 6 points in the process which had Thalaivas reduced to 2 men on the mat.
V Ajith Kumar's dismissal of Bulls' defensive mainstay, Mahender Singh and a couple of Super Tackles saw them cut the score deficit down to just 2 points at 24-22. Putting their numerical advantage to effective use, Pawan Sehrawat's double dismissal of Manjeet Chhillar and Mohit Chhillar followed by Amit Sheoran's High 5-Tackle Point inflicted the match's first All-Out on the Tamil Thalaivas. Ajay Thakur dismissed Saurabh Nandal as Tamil Thalaivas kept pushing on, trailing their opponents by 8 points, 32-24.
Pawan Sehrawat produced yet another masterclass Second Half display, as Bulls raced off to a huge lead over Tamil Thalaivas at the crucial moment. From that point on, it was all about holding on to the lead and getting in the crucial Raid points for Randhir Singh's men.
Tamil Thalaivas put in some steady series of displays, embarking on a 4-1 run in their favor as veteran Manjeet Chhillar brought down Bulls' Raiders Pawan and Rohit in consecutive Tackles, but it was too late for Thalaivas to complete any significant attempts of staging a comeback. The home side, Bengaluru Bulls held onto their lead, winning the Southern Derby 33-27.
Match Preview: Bengaluru Bulls host Tamil Thalaivas in PKL 7's Fourth Southern Derby
Super Sunday's second fixture will see hosts and defending champions, Bengaluru Bulls take on visitors Tamil Thalaivas at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore. A win for Thalaivas could see them get 3 points closer to the Top 6 while a win for Bulls could put them in the 3rd spot of the PKL 7 standings.
Bengaluru Bulls began their Home leg by a loss of a 9-point margin against Gujarat Fortunegiants. However, despite the defeat their defense had a performance full of positives wherein Saurabh Nandal registered 8 Tackle Points from just 7 attempts and lead defender Mahender Singh notched up 4 Tackle Points. Meanwhile, The Raiding department would be of much concern for coach Randhir Singh as PKL 7's best Raider so far, Pawan Sehrawat (131 Raid Points) and captain Rohit Kumar both recorded 3 points each.
For Bulls to record their first Home win in 3 years a strong and an al- round performance is expected in the night. On the other hand, Tamil Thalaivas are facing a 5-match win drought. The Raid partnership of Rahul Chaudhari and captain Ajay Thakur has not clicked well of late too. In the defense, the performances need to step up as over the previous outings, just 6 Tackle Points have been averaged by the unit.
Home side, Bengaluru Bulls enter this fixture being the favourites - on and off paper, both - to triumph over their opponents Tamil Thalaivas. For the visitors, it will be an uphill task to qualify for the playoffs but a win on the night would set them in the right course.
