Patna Pirates beat Jaipur Pink Panthers 36-33 in a closely fought match on Thursday. Pardeep Narwal proved too good for the Pink Panthers as Patna moved out of the bottom of the points table.

The Dubki King was in form right from the start but Patna’s lack of quality in defense finally showed when they lost an opportunity to inflict an All-Out on the Pink Panthers. Sandeep Dhull then pulled off a Super Tackle with 10 minutes still to half time to start a revival for the Jaipur side. But a late surge by Pardeep Narwal ensured the three-time champions remained in better shape as the sides went into the break with scores at 15-14 in favor of the Pink Panthers.

Jaipur began the second half on a high but Patna clinched an All-Out in the 8th minute. Pardeep Narwal picked his Super 10 with 9 minutes remaining while Jaipur’s Sandeep Dhull secured his High 5 with a mighty tackle on Pardeep. Patna’s three-point lead was evened out by a three-point Super Raid for the Pink Panthers as the match entered the final minutes with the teams' par on points. A clever Bonus Point followed by a smart tackle helped Patna open up a two-point cushion in the final minute to see out the match.

Match Preview: Pardeep Narwal takes on Deepak Niwas Hooda

Last time these teams played Jaipur won by 13 points. But that was when Patna had their slump and Amit Hooda was playing. Both situations have been turned on its head by Pardeep, and Amit not playing in the last many matches for the panthers. Will Pradeep continue his form and compensate for the leaky defenders?  Deepak Hooda has had an ordinary middle of the tournament scoring just 8 points in his last four games and panthers lost all games. Now Deepak has 9 and 14 points for the last two games. Will he be able to carry his rich vein of form. Patna have tried a few efforts to get their defense working.. including playing Hadi in Left corner.
