Ashu Malik Shines But Falls Short as Patna Pirates Edge Out Dabang Delhi in Close Encounter
Dabang Delhi's dream run in the 10th season of Pro Kabaddi ends in a tough Eliminator 1 clash against Patna Pirates. Despite a stellar performance from Ashu Malik, Patna proved successful as they got a slender 37-35 lead to book their place in the semi-finals against Puneri Paltan.
The match was a see-saw battle from the start, with each team showing off their defence ability. Patna Pirates drew first blood with a raid from Sachin, however, Ashu Malik replied in the very next minute with a 2-point raid. The first half was a closely contested affair with both teams trading points in raids and showing off their defensive skills.
However, the highlight of the first half was a beautiful Super Raid in the 12th minute from Ashu. He beats 4 of Patna's defenders to bring his team back into the contest. After his Super Raid, the score came close to 13-14.
The second half continued in the same vein, with each team neck and neck. Patna Pirates inflicted all-out on Dabang Delhi in the 9th minute of the second half to take a critical 4-points lead. However, Dabang Delhi never gave up and fought bravely to close the gap. Ashu Malik continued to be the big name for Delhi, scoring raid points or even making some other Super Raid in the 18th minute.
The last few minutes of the match were an anxious affair with each team trading important points. In a do-or-die raid for Patna, Sandeep Kumar got a point and allowed his team to get the crucial lead.
In the final raid of the match, Manjeet takes a touch-point on Vishal Bhardwaj to seal the deal for the Patna Pirates.
While Patna Pirates can breathe a sigh of relief that they have secured their place in the next round, Dabang Delhi can be pleased with their fighting spirit and remarkable overall performance.
Ashu Malik certainly became the star of this battle as he recorded 19 raid points, including Super Raids. This match served as a reminder that Pro Kabaddi is a game of resilience and spirit. Despite individual brilliance, time after time, the team's collective effort is what ensures victory.
