Pro Kabaddi League 2023: SWOT Analysis of Puneri Paltan for PKL Season 10. How will Mohammadreza Shadloui Fit in?
Puneri Paltan created quite a stir within the Aution room when they bought the services of Iranian All-Rounder Mohammadreza Chiyaneh. The Maharashtra-based outfit bagged the player for INR 2.35 Crores making him the most expensive PKL player momentarily before Pawan Sehrawat was once again made the most expensive entity.
Pune released their Iranian Captain Fazel Atrachali from Season 9 who guided Puneri Paltan towards their maiden Finale appearance and they replaced him with 2 Iran based players Mohammadreza Chiyaneh and Vahid Rezaeimher.
And in this article we will do the SWOT analysis of Puneri Paltan and how they are looking for the Landmark 10th edition.
Strength
Paltan's main strength lies in their Raiding department which comprises their Core Indian players. Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat and Akash Shinde have all been a part of the Indian national team during the recently concluded 19th Asian Games where India won the Gold medal.
The trio had raid points of 138, 120 and 139 respectively and they have back up players Pankaj Mohite and Aditya Shinde shared 72 Raid points between them. Their attacking explosiveness increased after Shadloui joined the camp whose raiding skills have drastically improved since last year.
He will also come in handy with his defensive skill set which earned him a lot of praise already.
Weakness
Pune's main weakness is their new and young back up players in their defensive department. Another concern is that none of their retained Defenders were even in the Top 20 Best defenders of Season 9 and Pune released the one who was in number 7, Fazel.
Therefore, Puneri will need Sanket Sawant, Abhinesh Nadarajan, Badal Singh and Gaurav Khatri to perform well as new defensive signings Ahmed Mustafa, Ishwar Pandit, Hardeep and Vahid Rezaimher could take some time to settle in and it will be a bonus for Puneri if any one of the new defenders stands up for the occasion.
And yes not to forget they do have Shadloui Chiyaneh, last edition's 2nd Best defender with 74 points in 20 matches. But Puneri will need someone to support in case of Shadloui's absence.
Opportunity
Pune's New Young Player signings Nitin R, Vaibhav Kamble, Dadaso Pujari and Tushar Dattaray will have an opportunity to make a name for themselves as all of them have done well in the Domestic circuit.
Irani defender Vahid Rezaeimher is also there with Shadloui as the 2 foreign players and it will be interesting to see the former's development in Season 10.
Threats
Puneri's main threat are teams like U Mumba and Bengal Warriors who were doing everything to sign Chiyaneh before Pune bagged him. Telegu Titans and Jaipur Pink Panthers will also pose a challenge against them in their quest to win the Coveted PKL trophy.
