4th Khelo India Youth Games to commence from 21st November || KIYG 2021

Khelo India Youth Games announced the starting date for the 2021 edition. The 4th edition of Khelo India Games will go underway in the month of November 2021. Read on to find out all the details regarding KIYG 2021

The 4th Edition of Khelo India Youth Games is scheduled to begin in Panchkula, Haryana from 21st November 2021. Sports Authority of India (SAI) along with Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) announced the 25 sports disciplines including Kabaddi which will be seen in action from Haryana. The previous edition which concluded in January 2020 in Guwahati had two categories namely- U-17 and U-21. However, the 4th edition of KIYG will have only 1 category "U-18" for both boys and girls. Kabaddi in KIYG will feature the top 8 teams from the school games that are conducted every year. This year due to the Covid-19 pandemic the School Games Federation of India could not conduct the school game nationals. The state-wise participation of team sports will be announced in the due course by SAI and Khelo India. 

Athletes Eligibility Criteria:

An Athlete born on or after 1/1/2003 is eligible to participate in the Khelo India Youth Games, Haryana 2021


Athletes will have to produce eligibility documents such as Age Proof and Eligibility to participate from the states/UTs. The Eligibility documents are split into two categories - U-18 (if an athlete is in School) and U-18 (if an athlete is not in school). The athletes will have to produce their identity proof, matriculate certificate, and birth certificate as age proof. The states and UTs will have to ensure the eligibility documents of the athletes are in place and verify the documents before submitting them to Khelo India.

Kabaddi is one of the key disciplines in the Khelo India Games where young and raw talent from the country will be seen in action. The 3rd edition of the Khelo India Youth Games saw the top 8 teams in each category- U-17, and U-21 go head to head. In both the categories, it was Haryana who went on to win the championship proving why they are the Kabaddi hub in the country. In the U-17 category, Maharashtra was the runners-up and in U-21 it was Rajasthan. It will be interesting to see if Haryana can be dethroned this year or they will continue to dominate the Khelo India Games
