Pro Kabaddi League 2023: Ravi Shastri Nostalgic About Childhood Kabaddi Days as PKL Season 10 Nears

As the highly anticipated Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 10 gears up to kick off in Ahmedabad on December 2, former Indian cricketers Ravi Shastri and Sanjay Manjrekar took a trip down memory lane, reminiscing about their love for kabaddi in Mumbai.

Ravi Shastri, known for his charismatic presence in the cricketing world, revealed his fondness for kabaddi during his childhood. "I used to play kabaddi in my colony. It was a lot of fun to play the game because we used to play in the evening. Everyone from the colony used to come together to play. And a group of 50 people used to watch our games," shared Shastri.

Highlighting the physical demands of kabaddi, Shastri emphasized the importance of a good fitness level, specifically mentioning the significance of core strength and lower body fitness.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar shared insights into the vibrant night kabaddi culture in Mumbai, describing it as a highly competitive scene with a large audience. "A very competitive night kabaddi used to take place, and a lot of people used to go and watch the games in Mumbai. I also used to go and watch the games along with the huge crowd," said Manjrekar.

Sanjay Manjrekar, known for his cricket commentary, drew a humorous parallel between facing fast bowlers in cricket and playing kabaddi. "This is a contact sport. I found it easier to wear a helmet and face fast bowling than playing kabaddi. One requires flexibility, strength, and smartness for this sport," he added.

As PKL Season 10 approaches, the league is excited to welcome kabaddi enthusiasts back to the stadiums. The Ahmedabad leg will be held from December 2 to 7, followed by subsequent legs in Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Noida, Mumbai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Patna, Delhi, Kolkata, and Panchkula.

The league promises to offer thrilling kabaddi action, with star players ready to captivate fans in each franchise's home city. Shastri and Manjrekar's nostalgic reflections add a personal touch to the excitement surrounding the upcoming season, connecting the stars from the cricketing world to the indigenous roots of kabaddi.

As the countdown to PKL Season 10 begins, fans eagerly anticipate the return of electrifying kabaddi encounters and the unique charm that the league brings to the sporting landscape.
