PKL 10: Top Left Cover Defenders Excel in Pro Kabaddi Season 10

The Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 10 concluded in a dramatic finale with Puneri Paltan securing their first-ever championship title. While the victors rightfully stole the show with their thrilling 28-25 win over the Haryana Steelers, the league also witnessed exceptional defensive displays from several players, particularly the left-cover defenders.

Here's a look at the top 5 performers in left-cover position

Jaideep Dahiya (Haryana Steelers): Leading the pack is Jaideep Dahiya, the Haryana Steelers' left cover defender. He amassed an impressive 68 tackle points throughout the 23 matches he played, showcasing his ability to effectively neutralize raiders. Dahiya's contribution went beyond just tackles, he also managed a significant number of "high 5s," demonstrating his agility and awareness on the court. With 6 high 5s to his name, Dahiya proved to be a constant thorn in the side of opposing raiders.

Reza Mirbagheri (Jaipur Pink Panthers): Following closely behind Jaideep Dahiya is the experienced Reza Mirbagheri of the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Mirbagheri, known for his strategic tackling and anticipation skills, collected 60 tackle points in his 22 matches. While he doesn't boast as many high 5s (2) as Dahiya, his consistent tackling throughout the season helped the Pink Panthers maintain a strong defensive presence.

Sanket Sawant (Puneri Paltan): Despite Puneri Paltan's overall victory, their left cover defender, Sanket Sawant, didn't rack up a high number of tackle points (32 in 22 matches). However, his contribution shouldn't be underestimated. Sawant's defensive style often focused on disrupting the raiders' momentum and creating opportunities for his teammates to secure tackles.

Mahender Singh (U Mumba): U Mumba's journey in PKL 10 wasn't as successful as some of the other teams, but their left cover defender, Mahender Singh, displayed commendable defensive skills. Despite playing in only 16 matches, Singh managed to score 31 tackle points and 2 high 5s. His ability to anticipate raiders' movements and execute timely tackles proved valuable for U Mumba's defence.

Ajit Pawar (Telugu Titans): Rounding out the top 5 is Ajit Pawar, the Telugu Titans' left-cover defender. Pawar displayed his defensive prowess by securing 30 tackle points in his 20 matches. Similar to Mahender Singh, he also managed 2 high 5s throughout the season. Pawar's presence on the court provided a crucial layer of defence for the Telugu Titans.

While Puneri Paltan's triumph undoubtedly dominated the headlines, the exceptional performances of these left-cover defenders deserve recognition. Each player, with their unique style and skills, played a vital role in their respective team's defensive strategy. As the Pro Kabaddi League continues to evolve, the importance of strong left-cover defenders will only grow, shaping the future of the game.
