PKL 10: Top 3 Tamil Thalaivas Defenders to watch out for in Pro Kabaddi League 2023

Tamil Thalaivas might contain one of the strongest defense among all other 11 teams in the Pro Kabaddi League season 10. In total, the Thalaivas have 10 defenders at their disposal which includes retained as well bought players.

They also have 2 foreign defenders - Mohammadreza Kaboudrahangi and Amirhossein Bastami, both coming from Iran. But their main strength lies in their homegrown local defenders and the onus will mainly be on them this season.

As the saying goes, a strong defense means better chances to capitalize and win. And if you are interested to know who are their Top 3 Raiders to watch out for then click here. But if you want to know about the Top 3 Defenders who will lead from the front for Tamil Thalaivas this season, then you're at the right place.

1. Sahil Gulia: Since making his debut in Season 8, Sahil Gulia has become a key part of the Tamil Thalaivas set up and has developed into a key player. In season 8, the Left corner played 18 matches, making a total of 79 tackles in which he collected 30 tackle points.

He averaged 1.67 tackle points per match and his success rate of 38% was a decent one as well. His performance improved last season (9) where he played 23 matches as Tamil Thalaivas reached the play-off rounds. Sahil scored 57 tackle points in 121 tackles with 2 High 5s and 4 Super tackles.

His average also jumped from 1.67 to 2.48 along with a success rate of 44%. In season 10, Sahil will definitely lead the defensive line.

2. Sagar: Right corner Sagar is another defender who is going to be key for Tamil Thalaivas. He was last season's 14th highest scoring defender, something he will like to change in season 10. His main aim would be to get into the Top 10 best defenders and if he does so, the Thalaivas are going to heavily benefit from it.

His journey in Pro Kabaddi League started with Tamil Thalaivas as well in Season 7 where he gathered 22 tackle points out of 40 total tackles. Then next year, he played 22 matches and scored a terrific 82 tackles points, becoming the 2nd best defender of that season.

Then last year, he scored 53 tackle points out of 88 total tackles with an average of 3.12. He also had 5 High 5s and 8 Super tackles in 17 matches. This season he will look to regain his form and get back on top of the highest scoring defenders.

3. M. Abhishek: Last but not the least, Right Cover M Abhishek is the 3rd defender to watch out for in Pro Kabaddi League 10 for Tamil Thalaivas. He had somewhat an average season last year, scoring only 40 tackle points out of 128 total tackles and in contrast it was better than his previous 2 seasons.

But it will be expected that he will perform well this season and support other defenders.
