Top girls' teams like Sports Authority of India, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh were the big winners in the pre-quarterfinal matches of the Junior National Kabaddi Championships 2020. The elimination stage of the 46th edition of the tournament took place on Saturday, 15th February 2020 with a total of 16 teams battling for a place in the next round.
SAI started off the day with a 27-16 win over West Bengal State Unit team. It was a tough match for both the teams as the scores were leveled at 9-9 at half-time. SAI girls then took a slight lead before they inflicted an all-out on West Bengal and extend the lead. Vaishali picked up a High 5 for SAI as they secured a place in the quarterfinals.
Maharashtra girls were no match for Rajasthan as the earlier won the match 36-27. They took an early lead into the match with Manasi Dnyaneshwar Rode leading the raiding department. She scored a total of 13 points into the match and had support from Samruddhi Shankar Kolekar who scored 10 raid points. Shital Bajirao Mehetre got a High 5 with 6 tackle points. 4
Goa handed a 39-27 defeat to Punjab while Uttar Pradesh had a cakewalk 25-8 victory over Bihar. The two winners will be up against each other in the quarterfinals. The top scorer from the tournament, Paranpreet Kaur, could not save her team Punjab from a loss while Karnataka's Manasa KV failed to take her team over to the victory line. Manasa is the second-highest scorer of the tournament in the girls' category. In a one-sided encounter, Karnataka lost 16-42 against a strong Haryana team.
In the other three pre-quarters, Himachal Pradesh defeated Andhra 44-27, Delhi went past Tamil Nadu 36-25 and Chandigarh went past Chhattisgarh 38-26.
