Who won the Haryana Steelers Best Defender award at 46th Junior National Kabaddi Championships?

The Junior National Kabaddi Championships 2020 ended on Sunday, 16th February 200 as Sports Authority of India won the boys' trophy while the team of Haryana won in the girls' category. The four-day Kabaddi tournament ended with the best of the players being celebrated and bestowed with different awards to encourage the young talent of the country.

Pro Kabaddi's Haryana Steelers gave away the award to the Best Defender of the Tournament in both boys and girls' categories. The winners were given certificates and a cash prize of Rs. 20,000 each. The Best Defender award was given based on the performances of the players in the tournament and their relevance with the team going past the winning line.

Arpit Saroha - Best Defender of the Tournament (Uttar Pradesh)

Arpit Saroha from Uttar Pradesh won the Best Defender of the Tournament award in the boys' category. He scored 23 tackle points from 30 attempts in six matches. He was in the starting seven for all the matches UP played in the tournament. He began the tournament with four tackle points in the first league match against Rajasthan and then got three points against Chhattisgarh.

After picking up just one point in the pre-quarters, he bounced back to get four, six and four tackle points in the next three matches respectively. He was one of the major players who helped Uttar Pradesh reach the finals of the tournament.

Vaishali - Best Defender of the Tournament (Sports Autthority of India)

In the girls, the Sports Authority of India's Vaishali was named as the Best Defender of the Tournament. She scored 17 tackle points in five matches. Her performance helped the team reach the finals as she scored three back to back High 5s on the way. Her first High 5 came against West Bengal State Unit, then against Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. She scored five tackle points each in all the three matches. Her final performance saw her scoring two points in four tackles.
