PKL 10: How have the Gujarat Giants played in this season of the PKL so far?

The Gujarat Giants started the season on the best possible note, but their campaign derailed a bit after that. Nonetheless, their lineup has demonstrated an incredible all-around Kabaddi performance on the mat, and there is a reason why they are in the fifth position in the league rankings after eight victories and six losses in fourteen matches.

They have 44 points and a -2 scoring difference. Fazel Atrachali has led the squad admirably, creating a standard for the other players to emulate. He has received excellent support from his teammates, whether they are defenders or raiders.

The Gujarat team started the season by winning their first three games in a row at home. All of their victories were close, but they still managed to earn five points against the Telugu Titans (38-32), the Bengaluru Bulls (34-31), and U Mumba (39-37).

After three victories, they became relaxed and lost their next three matches. The first loss was by three points against the Patna Pirates, while the second was by the same margin to the Jaipur Pink Panthers. The third loss was to the Haryana Steelers by two points, which hurt them the most.

The squad got on the right course following that, thanks to Rakesh (14 points) and Fazel Atrachali (6 points), who helped Gujarat defeat U.P. Yoddhas and earn those five essential points. The Gujarat Giants dominated their subsequent two games as well, making a powerful statement.

As soon as the PKL 10 changed from 2023 to 2024, the Gujarat squad lost another match to Dabang Delhi by seven points, resulting in just one point on the table for them. Their next encounter was against the Telugu Titans, whom they defeated twice this season, albeit by seven points and with a superior performance.

In their next three matches in the PKL season 10, the Gujarat team faltered big time, losing two matches to Puneri Paltan that too by a huge margin of 20 points and 10 points, respectively. This also affected their score difference on the table. Although they won their match against Dabang Delhi, which gave them something to be happy about.

The performances from all the players have been really good, and the team has played collectively. Rakesh is the leading raider with 73 points in thirteen matches, followed by Sonu Jaglan with 71 points in twelve matches. Sombir and Fazel Atrachali have been the team’s best defenders with 38 and 36 points, respectively, in fourteen matches, without a shadow of a doubt.
