PKL 10: Who are the owners of Patna Pirates?

The Pro Kabaddi League's Patna Pirates have enjoyed the most success. In addition to finishing as runners-up in one season, they have won three of the nine competitions. 

Also, they are the only team to do so. Patna Pirates are also the only team to defend their title successfully. The team has created several records and milestones over the years, thanks to their consistency. 

The team's home ground is the Patliputra Sports Complex. The current captain of the team is Neeraj Kumar, and the current coach of the franchise is Ravi Shetty.

Patna Pirates are one of the oldest teams in the history of Pro Kabaddi League. The Patna-based franchise had featured in the first edition as well.

The franchise is owned by Rajesh V Shah under KVS Energy and Sports Limited. Rajesh Shah is also the chairperson of Mukand Enterprises. He is also a part of several other steel and machinery firms. Shah is from Gujarat and is a good friend of Anand Mahindra. The latter is also one of the promoters of the franchise. 

The third-generation industrialist is also the past President of the Confederation of Indian Industries and the Young Presidents' Organisation. He is a part of several other famous industries. Shah is an avid sports fan, and Patna Pirates is his first venture into the sports industry.. He has two children and both of them are not involved in the franchise yet.

Patna Pirates History in the PKL:
Patna Pirates are the most consistent team in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League. They have won most matches and of course, most trophies. The team won three trophies in a row. Their consistency is something left unmatched in the tournament. Apart from Patna Pirates, all the other teams have faced a major slump in form, but Pirates have managed to keep up with the other teams in terms of the attack. According to their official website, they are named Pirates because the team doesn't give up easily and knows how to stay ahead of their opponent.

Notably, Patna Pirates are one of the most interactive handles on social media. Even on their official website, they have an entertainment zone where the fans get to play games like Word Search and Spin the Wheel, amongst others. 

Patna Pirates had a decent beginning to the Pro Kabaddi League. They finished third and fourth in the first two seasons respectively. Their dominance began in the third season. The team finished second in the league stages but defeated the top-placed U Mumba in a nail-biting 3 close points to lift the title. They successfully went on to defend their title in the next two editions. 

In the sixth edition, the team couldn't make it to the top three of Zone B and got out in the league stage. They had a forgettable season in the seventh edition as well. However, the team bounced back in the eighth edition and finished as the runners-up. They managed only 8 wins out of 22 matches in the 9th edition, finishing the season at the 10th spot. They couldn't make it to the playoffs in the last edition.

Patna Pirates has the most winning per cent in the history of the Pro Kabaddi League. They have a winning per cent of 57.1. From 134 games, the team has won 70 and has lost 50. 

Since the team had a forgettable season last year, they have a lot of thinking to do in the upcoming edition. It will be interesting to see whom they retain ahead of the Auction which is likely to take place in August month.
