46th Junior National Kabaddi Championships: Who won the Best Raider awards?

The 46th edition of the Junior National Kabaddi Championships came to an end with the finals matches played on Sunday at the Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. The four-day-long tournament saw young talent from all over the country fight it out in Rohtak to win the title. Pune's Yuva Paltan took this opportunity to felicitate the best raiders of the tournament as a sign of encouragement to the talent in the tournament. Apart from a token of appreciation, the Best Raiders were awarded Rs. 20,000 each by the youth team of Puneri Paltan.

Meetu - Best Raider of the Tournament (Boys)

In the boys' category, Sports Authority of India's Meetu was given the Best Raider of the Tournament award. He scored a total of 52 raid points, the most by any male player in the tournament. He achieved the mark in just four matches knockout matches and 109 raid attempts to carry his team to a memorable win. Meetu started off with 17 points in the first match against Rajasthan in the pre-quarterfinals.

That performance was followed by yet another Super 10 when he scored 12 points against Maharashtra in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Meetu scored nine raid points. His best performance came into the finals when he helped Sports Authority of India to win the title after they were trailing in the match. In the finals minutes of the game, Meetu raked up points and helped SAI go past the winning line. He scored 14 points on the way.

Pooja
Pooja - Best Raider of the Tournament (Girls)

Pooja from Haryana won the Best Raider of the Tournament in the girls' category. She scored 48 points from 51 raids and played a pivotal role in Haryana's title victory. After her low scoring performances in the first two matches when Pooja got six and five points respectively, she was the top scorer in the quarterfinal match against Himachal Pradesh. She picked up 14 points from 12 raids and followed that performance with 16 points from 11 attempts in the semifinals.

Teaming up with Muskan Maalik, Pooja was the second-highest scorer in the final match. She got seven raid points in the finals.
