Air Force led by young Naveen Kumar and ONGC play brilliant Kabaddi on Day 1 : 38th AIMKC
The 38th AIMKC conducted by SKMG at Gotegaon (MP) kicked off on 20th Jan 2021. The matches began at 4 PM and went on till 10 PM on the first day. A total of 10 matches were played. The men from Air Force led by young raider Naveen Kumar notched up two wins to lead their pool. Naveen scored a massive 16 points from 20 raids with good support from Sombir in the defense in their first match against Punjab XI. Sombir scored 5 tackle points. In the last match of the day Air Force faced East Central Railway (Hajipur) where they notched their second win 40-31. Again Naveen scored 9 points from just 7 raids.
MPXI and PBXI also played two matches and ended the day with one win and one loss each. JD Academy, Nandlal Academy, Yamuna Sports, Ordinance Factory all notched up impressive wins in their matches.
Two teams of note include Indian Navy Delhi and ONGC, Sonipat. Indian Navy Delhi starring Nitin Tomar had a pain free win over Shastri Club with Tomar scoring 8 points from just 6 raids and never leaving the mat. Left corner Rinku Narwal also played well for Indian Navy. Indian Navy won 33-17 over Shastri Club.
ONGC Sonipat simply looked dangerous. With young Meetu, the best raider from Junior Nationals 2020 and stalwart Rajesh Narwal held the team nicely together against a strong Indian Navy (Mumbai) led by right cover defender Surjeet. ONGC crushed Indian Navy (Mumbai) 43-31 with Manpreet Singh steering the ship from outside.
With 3 teams looking strong, Day 2 has in store several top-level matches.
