Khelo India 2020: Technical officials for Kabaddi event announced

After a huge success of the Khelo India 2019 held at Shriv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune, the third edition of the Khelo India Youth Games will take place at Guwahati, Assam between 18-30 January 2020. The inaugural edition was held in New Delhi. 

Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India on 30th October put out a list of the technical officials selected to participate and conduct the kabaddi matches at the Khelo India Games in Guwahati. The list includes 40 officials, who have been selected from the 426 applications received.

The lists includes officials who have been a part of the Pro Kabaddi over the years and various other senior national level tournaments. Prajot Morajkar was also presented with the Best Technical Official at the recently concluded Pro Kabaddi 2019. Ajit Kumar was named the Best Referee for last year's tournament.

Khelo India Youth Games were launched under the Khelo India movement by the Ministry of Sports of India in 2018 to encourage the sports culture at grass root level. The first two editons of the games received a over-whelming response from the school and colleges all over the country. The best 1000 performing athletes are provided with a scholarship of Rs. 500000 annually for eight years to prepare them for international sporting events.

The second edition at Pune saw a participation of about 9000 students taking part in the multidisciplinary event. The 2020 games are expected to have more than 10000 participants.
