Indian Railway teams win Deendayal Trophy Season 3

The men's and women's teams of the Indian Railways won their respective matches to win the Deendayal Trophy Kerala Kabaddi League Season 3 in Kollam. The men's Indian Railway team defeated CISF 41-34 while the women's team registered a huge 61-21 win against Kerala Queens.

Rohit Gulia was the star for the men's team as he went on to get a total of 22 raid points in the match. He started the match with a Super Raid which gave his team a straight 5-0 lead from the first raid itself. Within the next 15 raids, the Railways had inflicted an all-out on CISF, taking a 12-2 lead. Rohit Gulia continued to fire with his multi-point raids as the second all-out is inflicted just before the half time ended. Railways led 26-13 at half-time.

CISF tried to get back into the match as Nitin Rawal picked up a Super Raid right at the beginning of the second half. Wazir then got a touchpoint of Gulia to inflict an all-out on the Indian Railways and close the gap of the score difference. They now trailed by just seven points at 20-27. The raiding machine of the day, Rohit, did not let the gap reduce as he went back to taking multiple raids yet again.

The Railways eventually went to win the match 41-34 as Gulia contributed with more than 50% of the points. Shrikant Jadhav was the second-highest scorer for Railways with five points. Rohit was named the Best Raider of the Tournament for his extraordinary performance. For CISF, Wazir and Ajay Kumar fought hard with 14 and 12 points respectively in a losing cause.

The women's final match between Indian Railways and Kerala Queens was a one-sided affair with the Railways team showing their complete dominance over the Queens. Having won the match 61-21, Payel Chowdhury led the Railways team with 18 raid points from 12 raids as Sonali Shingate and Rekha Sawant picked up four points each.
